One of the surprise stories of early 2022 was the selection of Charlotte Hornets standout LaMelo Ball to the NBA All-Star Game. In only his second year in the league, Ball took an injury replacement spot for All-Star captain Kevin Durant, who could not play due to a sprained MCL.
Entering the NBA in 2020, Ball had an immediate impact after a stint in the Australian League that took the place of college. His perimeter shooting, combined with at-the-basket skills and dynamic passing, elevated his young team and helped take them to play-in round contention.
